RESHAPE launches its YouTube channel: an interdisciplinary approach to human health

12 October 2026

Arnaud Tognetti, a CNRS researcher at CEE-M, is a co-lead of GDR RESHAPE (Research Network on Human Health through Evolutionary and Historical Approaches), which is launching its YouTube channel today.

The RESHAPE network has decided to create this channel to showcase its activities and share research on human health with a wider audience. Through thematic videos, lectures and researcher presentations, the channel aims to foster dialogue between disciplines and make scientific research accessible to a broader public.

The first video, produced by Arnaud Tognetti and the GDR RESHAPE steering committee, highlights the One Health approach, which calls for the interconnected study of human health, the environment and the dynamics of living systems. This perspective underlines the value of combining insights from disciplines such as anthropology, ecology and epidemiology, as well as the humanities and social sciences, to better understand the links between global change and human health.

Human health, the environment and economic issues

While health is often approached from a medical or biological perspective, it is also shaped by individual and collective behaviours, living conditions, social interactions and socioeconomic inequalities. Human health is closely linked to the quality of our environment, and environmental degradation — including pollution, climate change and ecosystem degradation — can therefore have significant economic repercussions, from rising healthcare costs to productivity losses associated with illness and stress.

This video illustrates how combining different disciplinary approaches can help us better understand the interdependencies between human health, the environment and how societies function.
