  • A LUM La Science: ecological compensation at the Ambatovy mine in Madagascar, with Sébastien Desbureaux, economist at CEE-M
24 April 2022

Scientists from Bangor University in the UK and the Centre for Environmental Economics – Montpellier (CEE-M) have examined the case of the Ambatovy mining site in Madagascar, which claims to be a leader in sustainable mining. Their independent study, published in March 2022 in Nature Sustainability, suggests, with a few nuances, that this strategy would have saved as much forest as was lost on the mining site.

Sébastien Desbureaux from CEE-M, who took part in this study as an economics researcher, was the guest on the programme broadcast on Divergence FM on 14 April 2022.
